Hi-well we are officially into autumn in Australia but it still feels like summer here except for the chilly mornings. Smoothie today was really green in essence but red in colour- thought I would jump into a warm winter vege like beetroot.
Raw beetroot is cleansing and is super rich in B vitamins and also gives you potassium Vitamin C magnesium, copper and zinc. Beetroot has always been great for any liver, gall bladder and kidney problems.
Yes you can use beetroot in your green smoothie and despite how many greens are in there it will be a rich dark red and it tastes delicious especially with apple. I used 1 cup of water/1 cup of apple juice/spinach/ parsley/ celery/chopped beetroot then added frozen peaches/2 dates/ginger/juice of 2 lemons.
Here are 2 suggestions from GreenSmoothieGirl’s online recipes to try-
1 red beet, peeled and diced
2 cups spinach
1 chopped apple
Ice and water (to achieve desired consistency) Blend and enjoy!
31?4 cups water/ice 1 medium fresh beetroot, washed well and chopped
Spinach, added until mixture reaches 6-cup line
2 T. honey
2 tart-sweet apples
2 frozen bananas
2 cups frozen pineapple
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon of ground ginger.
1/8 teaspoon of ground allspice or ground cloves.
1/8 teaspoon of ground nutmeg-they call this pumpkin pie spice in the US
Blend first 4 ingredients for 60 seconds, then add remaining ingredients and blend until very smooth.
