Celebrating another St Patricks Day. Green smoothies!

Hi! Today is St Patrick’s Day again so recycling this post from 2010 with some new pics and recipes. Even though I have several Irish relatives I had never taken any notice of St Patrick’s Day until the last few years and getting into greens in a really big way! Mathew Dalton was sent here in1827 for stealing sugar and met Jane who had stolen a sheet when she was working as a maid. Another one called Daniel Flood was sent here after stealing a watch.
When St Patrick’s Day rolls around and everyone goes green crazy putting green food colouring in everything I’m thinking green smoothies! No need to confine yourself to one green day in the year. I’m having a one day green smoothie challenge today. Drinking nothing but green smoothies and fridge and freezer are stocked ready to go!

Here’s are 2 recipes I made this morning from my book Dailygreenbar Guide To Green Smoothies

Dailygreenbar Special
1 large lemon with peel cut off
1 large peeled orange
juice of 1 lime
1 large apple
1 frozen mango or banana
3-4 handfuls baby spinach
6 mint leaves
1 tbs coconut oil
1-2 cups water (or half water half ice if using fresh mango)

Parsley/Mango/Ginger/Celery
2 large mangos (or 3 large frozen cheeks)
1 bunch flat leaf parsley
lemon juice
piece of ginger
stalk of celery
2 cups of water
Seriously good with the frozen mango mmm. Like a green creamy dessert. Enjoy!

jane – i am really struggling to get my 19 year old son to drink them. I have to have heaps of frozen berries for him to drink them down. When I make him drink one he brags that he skulled it in 7 seconds! What tips do you have to make it more palatible. My 17 year old can get enough…the greener the better. Thanks so much for your tips etc – I always new the grass was greener on the other side of a my kitchen! Ann a true Fan
